Außerhalb von Odenhausen in Richtung Weitershain liegt das Hofgut Appenborn, das sich ehemals im Besitz des Grafen Eberhard von Schwerin zu Friedelhausen befand. Das Hofgut mit seinen Mühlen gehörte zu dem untergegangenen Dorf Appenborn. Die ländliche Idylle des alten herrschaftlichen Gutes hatte es bereits Rainer Maria Rilke angetan. Auf einem Ausflug lernte er das Anwesen kennen und war so fasziniert, dass er für seine Frau Clara den alten Segensspruch auf dem Herrenhaus abschrieb, der bis heute dort zu sehen ist: "Auf hoher See sind große Wellen, verborgne Klippen, strenger Wind; wer klug ist, ver- lässt nicht die Quellen, die in den grünen Wiesen sind" Heute ist das Gelände des Hofguts regelmäßig Schauplatz von Veranstaltungen rund um die Rauchbrand-Keramik-Werkstatt von Karl-Heinz Till.
Outside of Odenhausen in the direction of Weitershain lies the Appenborn estate, which was formerly owned by Count Eberhard von Schwerin zu Friedelhausen. The estate, with its mills, belonged to the now-defunct village of Appenborn. The rural idyll of the old noble estate had already captivated Rainer Maria Rilke. During an excursion, he became acquainted with the property and was so fascinated that he copied the old blessing on the manor house for his wife Clara, which can still be seen there today: "On the high seas are great waves, hidden cliffs, harsh wind; wisdom dictates not to abandon the springs, that are in the green meadows" Today, the grounds of the estate regularly serve as the venue for events surrounding the smoke-fired ceramic workshop of Karl-Heinz Till.
