Anlässlich des diesjährigen Mühlentags öffnet das Industrie- und Heimatmuseum Solms (Bahnhofsallee 26a, 35606 Solms-Burgsolms) am Pfingstmontag, dem 25. Mai 2026 von 11:00 Uhr bis 17:00 Uhr wieder seine Türen für Besucherinnen und Besucher. Traditionell steht dabei die „Streichsmühle“ im Mittelpunkt – mit Einblicken in die Arbeit in der Mühle, das Mahlen von Getreide und die Bedeutung des Mehls für die regionale Ernährung. Außerdem laden wir Sie herzlich ein unsere neue Sonderausstellung „Bürogeschichte(n)“ zu besuchen. Die Ausstellung zeigt auf anschauliche Weise, wie sehr sich die Bürowelt verändert hat – vom leise kratzenden Federkiel bis zum lautlosen Touch Tippen auf dem Tablet. Historische Exponate und vielfältige Infotafeln geben spannende Einblicke in den Wandel der Arbeitswelt. Zu sehen sind unter anderem: • antike Schreibgarnituren und moderne Notebooks • Briefmarken und E Mails • Rechenmethoden mit Kugeln und zeitgemäße Computer • das mittelalterliche Kontor und das heutige Homeoffice • das charakteristische Klackern der Schreibmaschine • Vom Telefon mit Wählscheibe bis zum Smartphone Kurz gesagt: eine lebendige Reise durch den Büroalltag von gestern bis heute – voller Aha Momente, nostalgischer Erinnerungen und überraschender Entdeckungen. Jedoch kommt am Mühlentag, wie jedes Jahr, auch die Unterhaltung nicht zu kurz. Von ca. 12:00 Uhr bis 14:00 Uhr unterhält das Blasorchester Bonbaden und natürlich sorgt das Museumsteam wieder für das leibliche Wohl. Neben dem traditionellen Eintopfbuffet gibt es Kaffee und Kuchen, sowie gekühlte Getränke. Das Museumsteam freut sich auf viele Gäste. On the occasion of this year's Mill Day, the Solms Industrial and Local History Museum (Bahnhofsallee 26a, 35606 Solms-Burgsolms) will open its doors again for visitors on Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Traditionally, the focus will be on the "Streichsmühle" – with insights into the work in the mill, grinding grain, and the importance of flour for regional nutrition. We also warmly invite you to visit our new special exhibition "Office History(ies)". The exhibition vividly illustrates how much the office world has changed – from the softly scratching quill pen to silent touch typing on a tablet. Historical exhibits and various informative panels provide exciting insights into the transformation of the working world. Among other things, you can see: • antique writing sets and modern notebooks • stamps and emails • calculation methods with beads and contemporary computers • the medieval counting house and today's home office • the characteristic clattering of the typewriter • from the rotary dial phone to the smartphone In short: a lively journey through the office everyday life from yesterday to today – full of aha moments, nostalgic memories, and surprising discoveries. However, on Mill Day, as every year, entertainment will not be lacking. From about 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Bonbaden wind orchestra will entertain, and of course, the museum team will again take care of your physical well-being.
