The Protestant Castle Church in Weilburg is a monumental Baroque building that was constructed from 1707 to 1713 under Count Johann Ernst according to plans by Julius Ludwig Rottweil and is part of the overall complex of Weilburg Castle. It occupies a central position in Protestant church architecture of the 18th century. The rectangular, domed interior impresses with its spacious, well-proportioned spatial effect, achieved through a bold wooden construction. The pulpit altar and organ are located in a semicircular niche, opposite which lies the princely box; glazed boxes divide the corner spaces. The elaborate decoration with stuccoes, wall paintings, and intricate furnishings is unusual for a Protestant church. Under the altar is the princely burial vault of the House of Nassau with over 30 interments, including Adolf I of Nassau and his son Wilhelm IV. The vault is opened to the public annually on November 17th. Today, the castle church serves not only its religious function but also as an impressive event venue, for example, as an alternative performance space for the Weilburg Castle Concerts in inclement weather.

Sie nimmt im protestantischen Kirchenbau des 18. Jahrhunderts eine zentrale Stellung ein. Der querrechteckige, überkuppelte Innenraum beeindruckt durch seine weite, ausgewogen proportionierte Raumwirkung, die durch eine kühne Holzkonstruktion ermöglicht wurde. Kanzelaltar und Orgel befinden sich in einer Halbrundnische, gegenüber liegt die Fürstenloge; verglaste Logen gliedern die Eckräume. Die aufwendige Ausstattung mit Stuckaturen, Wandmalereien und kunstvollen Einbauten ist für eine protestantische Kirche außergewöhnlich. Unter dem Altar befindet sich die Fürstengruft des Hauses Nassau mit über 30 Beisetzungen, darunter Adolf I. von Nassau und sein Sohn Wilhelm IV. Die Gruft wird jährlich am 17. November für die Öffentlichkeit geöffnet. Heute dient die Schlosskirche neben ihrer kirchlichen Funktion auch als eindrucksvoller Veranstaltungsort, etwa als Ausweichspielstätte für die Weilburger Schlosskonzerte bei ungünstiger Witterung.
