““Bicycle friendliness” is a buzzword in Germany: conflicts, stubbornness, “Who owns the road?”... The Netherlands are “bicycle-friendly”: over 27% of trips are made by bike. But why do they cycle so much there? The film “Why we cycle” (2017, OmU - original language with subtitles) poses this question to various individuals in the Netherlands and follows them in their daily lives. Enriched with voices from science and research, a picture of Dutch bicycle culture emerges, from which perhaps much can be learned in Germany and especially in Marburg. We would also like to use this evening following the film screening to gather ideas on how Marburg-Biedenkopf could become a “bicycle country.” For this, we have designed a small interactive accompanying program to collect project ideas and simultaneously introduce interested individuals to the various initiatives that are committed to a sustainable traffic transition in the region. „Fahrradfreundlichkeit“ ist in Deutschland ein Reizwort: Konflikte, Rechthaberei, "Wem gehört die Straße?"... Die Niederlande sind "fahrradfreundlich": über 27% der Wege werden mit dem Rad zurückgelegt. Aber warum wird dort so viel Rad gefahren? Der Film "Why we cycle" (2017, OmU - Originalsprache mit Untertiteln) stellt diese Frage an verschiedene Personen in den Niederlanden und begleitet sie in ihrem Alltag. Angereichert mit Stimmen aus Wissenschaft und Forschung entsteht so ein Bild einer niederländischen Fahrradkultur, aus der sich vielleicht auch in Deutschland und speziell in Marburg einiges lernen lässt. Wir möchten diesen Abend im Anschluss an die Filmvorführung außerdem dazu nutzen, um Ideen zu sammeln, wie auch Marburg-Biedenkopf zu einem "Fahrradland" werden könnte. Dazu haben wir ein kleines interaktives Begleitprogramm entworfen, um Projektideen zu sammeln und zugleich Interessierten die verschiedenen Initiativen, die sich für eine nachhaltige Verkehrswende in der Region einsetzen, vorzustellen.
