Season opening on the Dillenburg Castle Hill Accompanied by cannon salutes and the special exhibition "Snapshots 2.0," a photo exhibition by local photographers, the museum season 2026 will be opened on Saturday, March 28, at the Dillenburg Castle Hill. The two museums, the Oranien-Nassau Museum in the Wilhelm Tower and the Economic History Museum in Villa Grün, will open their doors for the first time this year at 10 a.m. The Dillenburg Museum Association e.V. warmly invites you along with local photography enthusiasts to the exhibition "Snapshots 2.0" at Villa Grün. In this exhibition, local photographers from Dillenburg and Herborn present a diverse selection of their most beautiful images. Each photo captures a very special moment – whether it be a breathtaking landscape, fascinating details of nature, impressive architecture, or expressive portraits. Through the different perspectives of the photographers, an exciting mix of motifs is created that captivates the viewers. Therefore, all photography enthusiasts are warmly invited to experience the fascination of a moment for themselves and to dive into the expressive world of photography. The images of the photo exhibition "Snapshots 2.0" will be displayed until April 26 at Villa Grün. As part of the photo exhibition, two multimedia travel lectures will take place on Sundays, April 12 and 19, at 5:30 p.m. The Villa Grün Museum focuses on the economic history of the former Dill Circle and provides information through exhibits and text panels on the heating and cooking appliance industry as well as other economic sectors. Currently present economic enterprises in Dillenburg and the nearby area, regardless of their products, also inform visitors with exhibits and their company history. On Saturday, March 29, the project group "Living in the 18th Century" of the Dillenburg Museum Association will welcome visitors in historic uniforms with cannon salutes: the cannons will fire on the hour from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It has become a tradition for the Capella Orania to musically accompany the opening day and to present the most beautiful songs from their program. Guided tours of the casemates on Saturday, March 29, will be offered hourly starting at 1 p.m. The casemates in Dillenburg are the largest defensive structures in Germany. In a one-hour casemate tour, the underground passages, originally a path system for the defense of the castle, will be explained. In the Wilhelm Tower, detailed information about the Oranien-Nassau and German-Dutch history is provided on the ground floor and the three upper floors through large-format photos and text panels. The Dutch royal family, the House of Nassau-Oranien, originated on the Dillenburg Castle Hill and is presented in the Wilhelm Tower with portrait photos and numerous personal details from its beginning in 1815 to the present. The view over Dillenburg from the balcony of the Wilhelm Tower is also a popular photo motif. Saisonauftakt auf dem Dillenburger Schlossberg Begleitet von Salutschüssen und der Sonderausstellung „Momentaufnahmen 2.0“, eine Fotoausstellung heimischer Fotografinnen und Fotografen, wird am Samstag, dem 28. März, die Museumssaison 2026 auf dem Dillenburger Schlossberg eröffnet. Die beiden Museen, das Oranien-Nassauische Museum im Wilhelmsturm und das Wirtschaftsgeschichtliche Museum in der Villa Grün, öffnen erstmals in diesem Jahr um 10 Uhr ihre Pforten. Der Dillenburger Museumsverein e.V. lädt zusammen mit den heimischen Fotofreunden herzlich zur Ausstellung „Momentaufnahmen 2.0“ in der Villa Grün ein. In dieser Ausstellung präsentieren heimische Fotografinnen und Fotografen aus Dillenburg und Herborn eine vielfältige Auswahl ihrer schönsten Bilder. Jedes einzelne Foto hält einen ganz besonderen Moment fest – sei es eine atemberaubende Landschaft, faszinierende Naturdetails, eindrucksvolle Architektur oder ausdrucksstarke Portraits. Durch die unterschiedlichen Blickwinkel der Fotografinnen und Fotografen entsteht eine spannende Mischung aus Motiven, die den Betrachtenden in ihren Bann ziehen. Alle Fotointeressierten sind daher herzlich eingeladen, die Faszination eines Moments selbst zu erleben und in die ausdrucksstarke Welt der Fotografie einzutauchen. Die Bilder der Fotoausstellung „Momentaufnahmen 2.0“ werden bis 26. April in der Villa Grün ausgestellt. Im Rahmen der Fotoausstellung finden an den Sonntagen, dem 12. und 19. April, um jeweils 17.30 Uhr zwei multimediale Reisevorträge statt. Das Museum Villa Grün sieht seinen Schwerpunkt in der Wirtschaftsgeschichte des ehemaligen Dillkreises und informiert mit Exponaten und Texttafeln sowohl zur Heiz- und Kochgeräteindustrie als auch weiteren Wirtschaftszweigen. Derzeit in Dillenburg und der nahen Umgebung präsente Wirtschaftsunternehmen, gleich welcher Erzeugnisse, informieren Besuchende ebenfalls mit Exponaten und ihrer Firmenhistorie. Am Samstag, dem 28. März, wird die Projektgruppe „Leben im 18. Jahrhundert“ des Dillenburger Museumsvereins die Besuchenden in historischen Uniformen mit Salutschüssen begrüßen: die Kanonen schießen von 13 bis 17 Uhr jeweils zur vollen Stunde. Es ist bereits zur Tradition geworden, dass die Capella Orania den Eröffnungstag musikalisch begleitet und die schönsten Lieder aus ihrem Programm vorträgt. Die Führungen durch die Kasematten am Samstag, dem 28. März, werden ab 13 Uhr stündlich angeboten. Die Kasematten in Dillenburg sind die größten Verteidigungsanlagen in Deutschland. In einer einstündigen Kasemattenführung werden die unterirdische Gänge, ursprünglich ein Wegesystem zur Verteidigung des Schlosses, erklärt. Im Wilhelmsturm wird im Erdgeschoß und den drei oberen Etagen anhand großformatiger Fotos und Texttafeln eingehend zur oranien-nassauischen und deutsch-niederländischen Geschichte informiert. Das niederländische Könighaus, das Haus Nassau-Oranien, hat seinen Ursprung auf dem Dillenburger Schlossberg und wird im Wilhelmsturm mit Porträtfotos und zahlreichen persönlichen Daten von Beginn im Jahr 1815 bis zur Gegenwart vorgestellt. Der Blick über Dillenburg, vom Balkon im Wilhelmsturm aus, ist außerdem ein beliebtes Fotomotiv. Der Wilhelmsturm ist von Dienstag bis Sonntag (auch an Feiertagen, Ostermontag und Pfingstmontag) von 10 bis 13 Uhr und von 14 bis 17 Uhr geöffnet, das Museum Villa Grün an den gleichen Tagen von 10 bis 12 und von 13 bis 17 Uhr.
