Der sogenannte Pavillonbau an der Ostseite des Landgrafenschlosses mit dem Turm entstand unter Landgraf Moritz dem Gelehrten (1592-1627). Das trotz seiner Gedrungenheit eindrucksvolle Bauwerk erhielt angeblich 1650 von Landgraf Friedrich eine Kunstuhr im Turm, aus der zu jeder vollen Stunde der Dietemann, die Symbolfigur der Eschweger, heraustritt und kräftig in sein Horn bläst. Mehrmals am Tag, und zwar um 10:00, 12:00, 15:00 und 18:00 Uhr wird er von seinem "Dietemannlied" begleitet. Der Lionsclub Eschwege-Werratal hat es ermöglicht, dass der in Eschwege geborene Künstler Wolfram DER Spyra dem Dietemann auf seinem Tum sein "Dietemannlied" gegeben hat. Zu dem großen Stadtfest, dem traditionellen Johannisfest, steigt der Dietemann von seinem Turm und führt den Festzug an. Das Dietemannlied wird zum Johannisfesttraditionell am Freitag zum Maienzug auf dem Marktplatz gesungen!
The so-called pavilion on the east side of the Landgrave's Castle with the tower was built under Landgrave Moritz the Scholar (1592-1627).
