Beliebtes Ausflugsziel mit herrlicher Parkanlage Schloss Fasanerie, südlich von Fulda gelegen, gilt als Hessens schönstes Barockschloss und ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel. Die großzügige Barockanlage entstand Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts als Sommerresidenz der Fürstbischöfe von Fulda. Zum Schloss gehört ein rund 30 Hektar großer Landschaftspark mit wild wachsender und gestalteter Natur in einer kleinen Ideallandschaft. Natürliche Wiesen grenzen an gepflegte Beete und kunstvoll angelegte Seen. Höfische Wohnkultur des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts 1951 gründete die fürstliche Familie der Landgrafen von Hessen das Museum Schloss Fasanerie, um den kostbaren Familienbesitz der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen. In 60 Schauräumen wird seitdem höfische Wohnkultur des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts gezeigt. Bewundere auch du in geführten Rundgängen die prachtvoll ausgestatteten Wohnräume mit originalen Seidentapeten, Möbel unterschiedlicher Epochen sowie dekorativem Porzellan. Bedeutende Gemälde des 16. bis 19. Jahrhunderts zieren die Wände. Im ehemaligen Badehaus finden jährliche Sonderausstellungen statt. Porzellan- und Antikensammlung Schloss Fasanerie beherbergt eine der größten Porzellansammlungen in privater Hand. Hier entdeckst du höfische Tafelservices des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts sowie figürliches Porzellan aus den königlichen Manufakturen Berlin, Meißen, Kopenhagen und Sèvres. Auch gibt es eine dauerhafte Antikensammlung von seltener Qualität zu sehen: griechische und etruskische Vasen, römische Porträtbüsten, Terrakotten und Bronzen. Veranstaltungsprogramm und Gastronomie In den Sommermonaten finden zahlreiche Veranstaltungen auf Schloss Fasanerie statt, wie zum Beispiel Konzerte, Open-Air-Theater und das Fürstliche Gartenfest. Zur Schlossanlage gehören ein Restaurant mit Café und eine wunderschöne Schlossterrasse.
A popular destination with wonderful grounds Schloss Fasanerie is a popular destination to the south of Fulda and is considered Hesse’s most picturesque baroque palace. The spacious baroque complex was built in the mid-18th century as a summer residence for Fulda’s prince-bishops. The stately home boasts idyllic grounds spanning 30 hectares – home to both wild landscapes and landscaped gardens. Natural meadows sit side by side with carefully manicured flowerbeds and artistically designed lakes. Life in the 18th and 19th century court In 1951, the princely family of the landgraves of Hesse founded the Schloss Fasanerie Museum with the aim of opening up the valuable family possessions to the general public. Since then, 60 rooms have been offering an insight into court culture from the 18th and 19th centuries. During the guided walking tour, you can admire the magnificently decorated rooms with their original silk wallpaper, furniture from different periods and decorative porcelain. Significant paintings from the 16th to 19th centuries adorn the walls. Meanwhile, the former bathhouse is now home to special exhibitions, which change each year. Porcelain and antique collection Schloss Fasanerie is home to one of the largest private porcelain collections. Here you can discover court tableware from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as figurative porcelain from the royal manufactories in Berlin, Meißen, Copenhagen and Sèvres. A permanent antique exhibition of rarely seen quality is also on show. It features Greek and Etruscan vases, Roman busts, and pieces in terracotta and bronze. Events, food & drink Various events are held at Schloss Fasanerie during the summer, including concerts, open-air theatre productions and the princely garden festival. The grounds include a restaurant with a cafe and a lovely terrace. Open all year round The grounds and restaurant are open all year round. Directions Train and bus: From Fulda train station, walk to the central bus station (ZOB) and take bus number 6 or 7 to the Engelhelms stop. It is a 1 km walk from the bus stop.
