Der Dünzebacher Tor-Turm am Beginn der Neustadt stammt aus dem 16. Jahrhundert und diente lange Zeit als städtisches Gefängnis, was ihm auch den Beinamen "Diebesturm" einbrachte. Heute ist er der einzige noch erhaltene Turm der früheren Stadtbefestigung, die ebenfalls nur noch an wenigen Stellen in der Mauerstraße zu sehen ist. Die markante Dachkonstruktion des 25 m hohen Turmes, einem Spitzhelm mit drei vorkragenden sechseckigen Erkertürmen aus Fachwerk, ist unverwechselbar und daher auch ein beliebtes Fotomotiv.
The Dünzebacher Tor Tower at the beginning of the New Town dates back to the 16th century and was long used as a municipal prison, which also earned it the nickname "Thieves' Tower." Today, it is the only remaining tower of the former city fortifications, which can also only be seen at a few locations along the Mauerstraße. The distinctive roof structure of the 25 m high tower, a pointed helmet with three projecting hexagonal corner towers made of timber framing, is unmistakable and therefore a popular photographic subject.
