Der Weg verläuft zunächst am Waldrand entlang und bietet sogleich einen wunderschönen Blick nach Osten Richtung Niedenstein. Nach leichtem Anstieg durch den Hochwald bietet sich ein Abstecher zum Ringwall auf den Hinterberg an. Der Steinwall, der die frühgeschichtliche Wallanlage umgab, ist noch heute erkennbar. Der weitere Verlauf führt dicht an einem Basaltabbaubetrieb vorbei und endet nach weiteren Ausblicken wieder am Wanderparkplatz. Der Rundweg verläuft ausnahmslos auf befestigtem Untergrund.
