Der Weg zum Holzhausenschlösschen führt übers Wasser. Denn das umgibt das barocke Lustschlösschen von allen Seiten. Die Frankfurter Familie Holzhausen hatte es sich in den 1720er Jahren bauen lassen. Damals lag es auf dem Land ihres Gutshofs; heute 200 Jahre später, gehört es zum Frankfurter Nordend und ist umgeben vom grünen Holzhausenpark. Die Familie Holzhausen zählte schon seit dem Mittelalter zu den einflussreichsten und wohlhabendsten der Stadt, ihr letzter männlicher Nachfahre Adolph von Holzhausen vermachte Frankfurt neben seiner Kunst- und Büchersammlung auch das Holzhausenschlösschen.
Architekt Ernst May plante hier ab 1912 das Neue Frankfurt, später zog das Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte ein. Nach Jahren des Leerstands gründete sich die Frankfurter Bürgerstiftung, die ihren Sitz im Schloss hat und es in den 2010er Jahren umfassend renovieren ließ. Für viele der größte Gewinn des Projekts: ein eleganter Kammermusiksaal mit hervorragender Akustik. Gespielt wird hier aber nicht nur Klassik, sondern auch Jazz im „Ella & Louis“ – Frankfurts wohl gediegenster Jazz-Location.

The path to the Holzhausenschlösschen leads across the water. This is because it surrounds the baroque pleasure palace on all sides. The Frankfurt Holzhausen family had it built in the 1720s. At that time, it was located on the land of their estate; today, 200 years later, it belongs to Frankfurt's Nordend district and is surrounded by the green Holzhausenpark. The Holzhausen family has been one of the most influential and wealthiest in the city since the Middle Ages, and their last male descendant Adolph von Holzhausen bequeathed Frankfurt the Holzhausen Palace as well as his collection of art and books.
Architect Ernst May planned the New Frankfurt here from 1912, and the Museum of Prehistory and Early History later moved in. After years of vacancy, the Frankfurt Community Foundation was founded, which is based in the castle and had it extensively renovated in the 2010s. For many, the biggest gain of the project: an elegant chamber music hall with excellent acoustics. Not only classical music is played here, but also jazz at "Ella & Louis" - probably Frankfurt's most sophisticated jazz venue.
