Selbst aus dem großen Frankfurt kommen sie für den Mozzarella hierher – in den Hinterhof in der Bieberer Straße, in dem schlicht „Käseladen“ über der Tür steht. Die Fabbrica Latticini L’Abbate ist der wohl bekannteste Geheimtipp Offenbachs, seit Jahren genießt der kleine Laden von Vito Giuseppe L’Abbate und seiner Frau Andrea Kultstatus. Vito Giuseppes Vater Antonio kam in den 1960er Jahren aus Apulien nach Offenbach und vermisste den heimischen Käse so sehr, dass er ihn einfach selbst produzierte. Mozzarella, Ricotta und Scamorza stellen die L’Abbates auch heute noch vor Ort in ihrer „Fabbrica“ her. 1.000 Liter Bio-Milch verarbeiten sie am Tag zu 100 Kilogramm Mozzarella und 60 Kilogramm Ricotta. Und selbst wer kein Käsefan ist, kann hier fündig werden: Die L’Abbates führen auch ein sorgfältig ausgesuchtes Sortiment von italienischen Feinkost-Spezialitäten.

Fabbrica Latticini L'Abbate is probably Offenbach's best-known insider tip, and the small store run by Vito Giuseppe L'Abbate and his wife Andrea has enjoyed cult status for years.
