Auch wenn die große Zeit der Luftschiffe kaum 40 Jahre dauerte, ihre Geschichte fasziniert noch heute. Das Zeppelin-Museum in der ehemaligen Luftschiffer-Siedlung Zeppelinheim in Neu-Isenburg lässt sie wieder aufleben – und beginnt damit schon bei der Architektur des Hauses. Das Runddach entspricht einem Viertel des Zeppelins LZ 10 und führt Gästen damit schon am Eingang die Größe der Gefährte vor Augen. Innen geben Filme, Fotos, Dokumente und viele Originale vom Motor bis zum feinen Bordporzellan Einblick in das Leben von Crew und Gästen. Auf einem rekonstruierten Promenadendeck genießt du den Blick auf Rio de Janeiro, und wer Lust hat, kann mit der VR-Brille die LZ130 erkunden. Sie war das letzte große Luftschiff und ein Schwesterschiff der berühmten LZ129 Hindenburg, die bei ihrer Jungfernfahrt 1937 in Flammen aufging.
Even though the great age of airships lasted barely 40 years, their history is still fascinating today. The Zeppelin Museum in the former Zeppelinheim airship settlement in Neu-Isenburg brings it back to life - starting with the architecture of the building. The round roof corresponds to a quarter of the Zeppelin LZ 10, giving visitors an idea of the size of the ship right at the entrance. Inside, films, photos, documents and many original items, from the engine to the fine on-board porcelain, provide an insight into the lives of the crew and guests. On a reconstructed promenade deck, you can enjoy the view of Rio de Janeiro, and if you feel like it, you can explore the LZ130 with VR glasses. It was the last large airship and a sister ship of the famous LZ129 Hindenburg, which went up in flames on its maiden voyage in 1937.
