Groß-Gerau's most popular park, the Fasanerie, can be found in the Dornberg district, just opposite the ruins of Dornberg Castle. In the 1720s, the Dukes of Darmstadt and other Hessian aristocratic families established the park as a hunting ground for pheasants, among other things; its wall was partly built from stones from the castle, which had been destroyed a few years earlier.
Today, you will find several playgrounds, walking paths and a nature trail with information boards in the pheasantry. Incidentally, one tree in the park has already been declared a natural monument: a 100-year-old, 30-metre-high pyramid oak stands on the main crossroads. The green oasis is ideal for jogging, cycling, walking and excursions with children.

Groß-Geraus beliebtesten Park, die Fasanerie, findest du im Stadtteil Dornberg, gleich gegenüber von den Ruinen von Schloss Dornberg. In den 1720ern legten die Herzöge von Darmstadt und andere hessische Adelsfamilien den Park als Revier für ihre Jagden – unter anderem auf Fasane – an; seine Mauer wurde zum Teil aus Steinen des wenige Jahre zuvor zerstörten Schlosses errichtet.
Heute findest du in der Fasanerie mehrere Spielplätze, Spazierwege und einen Natur-Lehrpfad mit Info-Tafeln. Ein Baum im Park hat’s übrigens bereits zum Naturdenkmal geschafft: Am Hauptkreuzweg steht eine etwa 100 Jahre und 30 Meter hohe Pyramideneiche. Die grüne Oase ist ideal zum Joggen, Rad fahren, spazieren gehen und für Ausflüge mit Kindern.
