Das Smartphone haben die meisten von uns immer dabei, wir sind online, spielen, chatten und sind stundenlang am Rechner. Allerdings begreifen nur die wenigsten die Technik, die wir alle selbstverständlich nutzen. Das will der Digital Retro Park ändern. Mit Hilfe der Geräte von gestern wird hier ganz konkret greifbar, was unsere Technik heute kann – und das alles ohne Absperrkordeln und Glasvitrinen.
Der als Verein organisierte Digital Retro Park versteht sich als Mitmach-Museum, das zum Ausprobieren einlädt. Besucher*innen können sich am C64 in die 1980er Jahre beamen, an Arcade-Automaten ihr Glück austesten oder am grünen Telefon den Hörer ans Ohr halten und die Wählscheibe drehen.
Im Commons Café wird gelesen oder gebastelt, und regelmäßig bietet der Verein auch Workshops zu aktuellen Themen wie social media, E-Personalausweis – oder auch KI. Auch die war übrigens in den 1980ern schon Thema.

Most of us always have our smartphones with us, we are online, play games, chat and spend hours on the computer. However, very few of us understand the technology that we all use as a matter of course. The Digital Retro Park wants to change that. With the help of yesterday's devices, it is possible to experience in a very tangible way what our technology can do today - and all without barrier cords and glass cabinets.
Organized as an association, the Digital Retro Park sees itself as a hands-on museum that invites visitors to try things out. Visitors can beam themselves back to the 1980s on the C64, test their luck on arcade machines or hold the receiver to their ear on the green telephone and turn the dial.
In the Commons Café, people can read or do handicrafts, and the association also regularly offers workshops on current topics such as social media, e-ID cards - or even AI. Incidentally, this was also a topic back in the 1980s.
