Gemütlich ist es hier auf der Empore: Grün gestrichene Wände, dunkles Holz, du sitzt auf langen Bänken hoch oben über dem Trubel der Marktstände. Ein Apfelweinlokal im Taschenformat haben Pia und Frank Winkler in der Kleinmarkthalle geschaffen – und damit einen Ort, an dem sich ihre Gäste wie zu Hause fühlen. Die beiden haben jahrelange Erfahrung mit diesem Konzept, das Restaurant in der Kleinmarkthalle ist der kleine Bruder ihrer Gastwirtschaften Daheim im Lorsbacher Thal und Daheim in der Affentorschänke. Auch wenn die Karte in dieser kleinen Dependance etwas kompakter ist, für die Winklers ist wichtig, dass die Grundfesten der hessischen Küche vertreten sind: Handkäs mit Musik, Frankfurter Schnitzel und Grüne Soße. Alles wird vor Ort in der kleinen Küche zubereitet und wer angesichts des Markttreibens auch hier oben in Einkaufslaune ist, findet Marmelade, Soßen und kleine Gerichte im Weckglas zum Mitnehmen.

The pair have years of experience with this concept, and the restaurant in the Kleinmarkthalle is the little brother of their restaurants Daheim im Lorsbacher Thal and Daheim in der Affentorschänke. Even if the menu in this small branch is somewhat more compact, it is important to the Winklers that the basics of Hessian cuisine are represented: Handkäs with music, Frankfurter schnitzel and green sauce. Everything is prepared on site in the small kitchen, and if you're in a shopping mood given the hustle and bustle of the market up here, you'll find jams, sauces and small dishes in jars to take away.
