Die ehemalige Propsteikirche St. Andreas ist Teil eines einmalig schönen Ensembles von Kloster und Kirche aus der ersten Hälfte des 11. Jahrhunderts. Sie liegt nur ca. 15 Gehminuten durch die Fulda-Aue vom Dom entfernt. Kostbare Krypta Die Krypta gehört zu den kunsthistorischen Kostbarkeiten ersten Ranges. Im Jahre 1023 eingeweiht, bietet sie einen einzigartigen geschlossenen und ausgemalten Sakralraum aus ottonischer Zeit. Während die St.-Andreas-Kirche im Lauf der Jahrhunderte mehrfach – besonders durch die 1766 erfolgte Barockisierung – verändert wurde, blieb die Krypta seit der Gründungszeit der Kirche unversehrt erhalten. Nach 15-jähriger Restaurierung ist sie seit Februar 2006 der Öffentlichkeit wieder zugänglich. Besichtigen kann man die Krypta nach telefonischer Voranmeldung.
The former collegiate church of St. Andreas is part of a uniquely beautiful ensemble of monastery and church from the first half of the 11th century. It is only about a 15-minute walk through the Fulda meadows from the cathedral. Precious Crypt The crypt is one of the foremost art historical treasures. Consecrated in 1023, it offers a unique enclosed and painted sacred space from the Ottonian period. While the St. Andreas church has been altered several times over the centuries—particularly through the Baroque transformation in 1766—the crypt has remained intact since the founding of the church. After a 15-year restoration, it has been accessible to the public again since February 2006. The crypt can be visited by prior telephone appointment.
